Coaches Registration

Complete this registration form if you are coaching for the Reston Raiders for the 25-26 season. All coaches must be fully credentials for RRHC to remain in compliance with USAH. Coaching credential requirements are listed below.

Register as a Coach with USAH

Register as coach for the 2025-26 season. This must be done every season. Registering as a coach is a prerequisite for every requirement that follows. You will not be able to complete any requirement without registering as a coach for the current season. Your registration is current if the fourth digit is a 6 (141602122WILDM), which corresponds to the 2025-26 season.

How to Login to Your USAH Coaching Profile

Safesport Training

Safesport training (due every year and it expires one year from the date you complete the original training). This training is required by Federal law, is online and takes 60-90 minutes to complete. If you have completed the training in the past, the "refresher" course takes about 30 min. However, you will not be able to take the refresher training until about one month before your current training expires (Safesport will send you an email to alert you when it's available).

Background Screen

Complete a Background screen (due every other season). This is fairly basic and is done via USA Hockey. Please do not wait to submit for the screen.  Do it now. If you wait to submit until closer to the season, it will take longer to process the screen and you may not be able to take the ice right away next season. Again, do it now. It takes 5 minutes. If you're not sure whether you are due for a screen, log into your USAH Learning profile here.

USAH Age-Specific Modules

Complete the Online age-specific modules for every age level you coach. If you've already completed a module for an age level, you do not need to do so again. If you have never completed an age module, you first will need to complete the Foundations of Player Development module, which is a prerequisite for the other age modules. The age modules are not live, which means you can complete them at any time, and you do not have to do it in one sitting. You can complete part, take a break, and come back to it later. Please complete this requirements before the season starts.

CEP Clinics

These primarily are virtual clinics and they are live, taught by USAH National staff as well as other USAH coaches who are trained to teach the clinics.  Coaches must have their cameras on during the clinics in order to get credit for that clinic. Usually clinics are offered in the evenings, occur over two evenings and last 2-3 hours each evening. The length may vary.

In general, coaches need to complete a clinic (level, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) each season until reaching level 4. The clinic level is not related to the age level you coach, and you can only take one clinic per season. Those coaching 8U or younger can remain at their current CEP level (eg level 1) and do not have to continue taking clinics as long as they are coaching 8U and already have completed at least the level 1 clinic. As soon as coaches move beyond 8U, they need to take the next CEP clinic level.

Once at level 4 or level 5, the certification is valid for three seasons (level 4) or four seasons (level 5) during which time coaches must complete 5 credit hours of continuing education.

CEP Clinic requirement details can be found by selecting the Requirements tab here.

You may attend a virtual clinic anywhere in the country, not just in our USAH District, which is the Southeastern District; however, make sure the clinic for which you register is a virtual clinic and, if so, you note the time difference if it is hosted in a different time zone. You don't want to sign up for an in-person clinic in Alaska!

Generally clinics will not be offered until closer to the next season. However, please search the USAH clinic website periodically since some clinics likely will open for registration over the summer. NOTE that enrollment in these clinics is limited and they fill rapidly, sometimes within a few hours, because they are open to every USAH coach in the country.

Continuing Education (CE)

Level 4 and Level 5 coaches must obtain five continuing education credits every 3 years (Level 4) and every four years (Level 5). Details here.
