It’s a very exciting time for the RRHC Girls Program. We are proud to be fielding three girls’ teams for the 2010-11 season! Another big step toward establishing a successful and long-standing girls program is joining the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Hockey Association (MAWHA). Please see below for more information about MAWHA. The RRHC is fielding the following teams for 2009-10:
-U19, under Head Coach Brian Burke, will compete in the MAWHA Red Division (Tier 1)
-Girls Blue, under Head Coach Bill Paxton, will compete in the CBHL (Tier 2)
-Girls Silver, under Head Coach Jim Carsten, will compete in the CBHL (Tier 2). The Girls Silver team is a Lite Travel team, so these players will also participate in our House Program.
You Can Help the Girls Program Grow
Do you want to see the girls program continue to grow and offer girls a travel team through the Raider9? To do this we all need to recruit more travel ready girls to the Raiders program. Many of you have neighbors, friends, acquaintances, people you have seen at other rinks/girls camps who might be interested in playing in an all girls program. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them contact one of us:

In order to better meet the needs of all girls/women interested in playing hockey in the Mid-Atlantic region, Mid Atlantic Women’s Hockey Association (MAWHA) was formed in August of 2004. MAWHA is a non - profit organization. Our mission is to:
-Develop grassroots opportunities for girls and women to learn and enjoy the game of ice hockey
-Maximize the individual potential of each female athlete both on and off the ice
-Develop a strong sense of team unity and team spirit
-Encourage respect for others and develop good sportsmanship
By doing the above we hope to increase the number of female athletes at all ages enjoying ice hockey throughout the Atlantic District.
At the girls/youth level we have developed a Red, White, and Blue Division. The Red Division (Tier I), the White Division (Tier II), and the Blue Division (Developmental) will create a feeder system regionwide to advance our players. We will provide opportunities for the elite level players to develop the skills necessary to play at the college level. All teams will be encouraged to participate in the AAHA Select Programs for women. We will be actively involved with the development and expansion of girl’s high school hockey, adult women’s leagues, college hockey, and rink learn-to-skate programs for females.
MAWHA will meet the basic need to provide hockey at a reasonable cost to our players. We will keep focused at the grassroots level realizing recreational hockey is where we will build our player base and ensure hockey remains a fun and exciting game for our players to continue throughout their lives.
