Locker Room Policy This policy applies to coaches, parents and players for all the Reston raiders teams.
The purpose of this policy is to
1. Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for practice and games
2. To continue a good relationship with their home rink and the rinks that the team visits.
3. To encourage and teach respect for property
Obtaining Access to a Locker Room.
Skatequest Locker rooms: Locker room keys must be checked out from the rink employee in exchange for your Drivers license. Your name will be written down. This helps to insure the key stays in the arena. The person who checks out the key is responsible to lock up the room when everyone is out and return the key. If you go into a locker room that does not belong to you, your gear will be removed.
Inspect Locker Room BEFORE Use
You MUST inspect the locker room for cleanliness and damage upon entering. Notify rink management of any adverse conditions. In particular, check toilets, showers and sinks. If you do NOT do so, your team will be at risk for liability for damage found in the locker room after your use.
Supervise During Use
Maintain proper adult supervision while the locker room is occupied. A parent or member of the coaching staff should be present in the locker room whenever it is in use by the team, before and after practices and games. Keep the door locked while the team is on the ice. A rink employee may lock any locker room found unattended and unlocked. Fighting is never allowed in the locker room and may be cause for a game suspension.
Inspect After Use
When your team finishes using the locker room, it should be left undamaged and clean. Inspect toilets, showers and sinks for damage. Clean up any messes or spills. Be sure to put all trash including tape balls, paper and empty bottles into the trash can. Please stress to your children to pick up after themselves so the room will be ready for the next group to use. The locker rooms must be kept clean at all times.
Vacate
You should ask a rink employee to inspect the locker room upon your departure to ensure that your team is not held liable for any damage found later.
Fines and consequences.
If a locker room is found vandalized, your team will be held responsible for any and all locker room repairs required as a result of inappropriate use of the locker room facilities. Skatequest Locker room use: Skatequest may impose a fine of at least $100.00 depending upon severity if a locker room is found vandalized.
Gender Equity
Make certain that proper adult supervision is present in locker room settings, including the provision for more having than one supervisor present in the locker room, and arrange to provide supervisors who are of the same gender as the children they are to protect.
- Where possible, have the male and female players undress / dress in separate locker rooms; then convene in a single dressing room to hold the coach′s pre-game meeting. - Once the game is finished, hold the coach′s post game meeting; then have the male and female players proceed to their separate dressing rooms to undress and shower separately. - In cases where separate facilities are not available, have one gender enter the locker room and change into their uniforms. That gender would then leave the locker room, while the other gender dressed. Both genders would assemble in the locker room and hold the coach′s pre-game meeting. - Following the game and the coach′s post game meeting, where separate facilities are not available, the second gender group enters the locker room and undresses, while the first group waits outside until they have undressed and left the room. Once the second group leaves, the first group enters the locker room and undresses. Take turns so neither gender is favored. It's fair.
