Evaluation policies:
RRHC House Evaluations
The purpose of House Evaluation skate sessions is to enable the coaches to form even-strength teams during the draft for our fall house season. All players are required to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their assigned ice time in order to complete any necessary paperwork associated with registration and to receive their evaluation numbered pinny. Players must be a member of the Reston Raiders Hockey Club in order to participate in the House Evaluations. Players that are not registered or are waitlisted may not participate. There is no fee for House Evaluations. Also note that players may not attend an evaluation session for a different age group unless arranged in advance with the House Director.
Players and parents should be aware that the coaches also use these sessions to determine the readiness of a player to participate in the RRHC House Program. Players that, in the coach′s judgment, do not have the skill level to participate in that player′s age group will be given the option to move to the Reston Raider Initiation Program or to withdraw completely from the RRHC House Program. Any monetary balance will be refunded. Please note that participation in the Initiation Program is not an option at the Bantam and Midget Levels.
The House Evaluations are also one of the factors considered in the selection of the RRHC House Select teams, when available. The RRHC House Select teams are special teams for players who want to experience a little travel hockey and yet continue competing in house league with less cost and time commitment than traditional travel hockey. The RRHC House Select hockey teams play games in the Virginia, Maryland, and DC area and participate in 1 or 2 tournaments. If your player wishes to participate in the RRHC House Select program it is particularly important that they attend their assigned house evaluation session.
Below you will find the House Evaluation schedule. Mites should plan to attend both Monday and Wednesday at their assigned times. Mite Blue does not need to attend evaluations as we have your numbers and evaluations from tryouts. Goalies wishing to skate out should attend the evaluations on Saturday dressed as a player in addition to attending Sunday’s goalie evaluation. Those goalies who will not skate out should still attend both sessions, but dress as goalie for both.
**Travel players playing house do not need to show up for house evaluations as their information was recorded during travel tryouts.
