Off-ice Training, Power Skating/Skills Instruction, Goalie Instruction
Off-Ice: The Raiders Girls program features one of the best in-season off-ice training programs in the country. The program is led by Washington Capitals Strength and Conditioning coach Mark Nemish. Coach Nemish brings 23 years of NHL coaching experience to the club, providing hockey-specific training that is tailored to female athletes. Coach Nemish and his team work with the Club’s 16U and 19U Girls teams in two weekly off-ice training sessions, which take place before the teams’ on-ice practices.
Goalies: The Raiders Girls program offers the best goalie instruction in the region, led by Darren Hersh and The Goalie Academy. Each of the girls’ teams has a dedicated goalie coach from The Goalie Academy on the ice for every practice throughout the year. Moreover, our coaches build time into each practice for goalies to receive goalie training in addition to their work in drills with their teammates.
Power Skating/Skills Instruction: The Raiders provide each of the Club’s Girls Travel teams with the opportunity to work with Shaylun Young and Elite Hockey Science for specialized power skating and skills instruction. Coach Young and his staff are available to join the teams during regularly scheduled practices and his instruction is incorporated into team practices throughout the season.
